Marjorie Tate, 80, of Fort Collins died Feb. 28 in the Hospice Wing of McKee Medical Center after a short hospital stay.
A memorial mass will be held at 1:30 p.m. on May 1 at John XXIII University Center in Fort Collins.
Marjorie Markovetz, the second child and first daughter of Edward Markovetz and Margaret Bohselich Markovetz was born in Aberdeen, South Dakota, on July 2, 1927. Following graduation, she attended business college and was later employed as a secretary for a local law firm. She worked there until her marriage to Dr. James Tate of Hayes Center, Neb., in October of 1950. The couple had four children.
Married 58 years, the couple spent most of the last 35 years in Fort Collins. Beginning in the 1970s, Marjorie worked for the Fort Collins K-Mart as a cashier and bookkeeper until her retirement. She was a lifelong member of the Catholic Church.
With her husband Jim, Marjorie was an avid bridge player. In addition to reading, solving crossword puzzles, and journaling, Marjorie also enjoyed music. Marjorie also liked cooking and baking and was appreciated for her Bohemian kolaches.
Marjorie is survived by her husband, daughter Diana and husband Robert Richter; son John and wife Younghee; son Scott and wife Cynthia; brother Vern Markovetz and wife Kay; grandchildren Sarah, Caleb, and Jason; greatgranddaughter Selah; aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Preceding Marjorie in death were her parents, brother Allen, and son Mike.
