Jean Hibbs, loving wife, mother, and grandmother passed away on April 20 following a brief illness at the age of 81.
Jean was born Feb. 24, 1927 to Clarence and Florence Kilburn in Elmhurst, Ill. She grew up and attended schools in Aurora, Ill. Jean married Dale Hibbs on June 17, 1950 in Silvis, Ill. While Dale was in the U.S. Air Force they were stationed in Germany and traveled throughout Europe and later lived in Illinois, Colorado and Washington, D.C., before making their home in Fort Collins.
Jean worked in the medical insurance business most of her life and retired as the insurance administrator for the Colorado State University Student Health Center in 1980. They retired to Florence, Ariz., where they managed and worked at Caliente and RV parks and campgrounds in California and Wyoming. In 1992, they returned to the Colorado mountains to make their home.
Throughout her life she enjoyed cooking, traveling, camping, sewing, and reading. The true light of her life was her family and she cherished being a grandmother. She was a member of the Chapel of the Interlude in Drake.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Dale, daughter Laurie Tucker and husband James of Cheyenne, Wyo., granddaughter Jennell Acklin and two great granddaughters, two nephews, one great niece, one aunt, and several cousins.
She was preceded in death by her son, Randy Lee Hibbs, her parents, brother and sister.
Services were held previously.
