Darlene Marie Carlson Swanson, 82, passed away May 3 in Fort Collins.

Darlene was born Aug. 8, 1925 in Boone, Iowa to Edith Marie (Peterson) and Arvid W. Carlson. After high school, she graduated with her bachelor's degree from Augustana College and undertook advanced studies in child development at the University of Chicago. On Aug. 8, 1948, Darlene was united in marriage to Reuben T. Swanson in Boone, Iowa. They moved to Fort Collins in 2006. Darlene and Reuben served the Lord together and she was able to share her faith through art, music and devotionals. Darlene served as a board member of Augustana College Alumni Association, Bethphage Great Britain/Mosaic, the Lutheran Summer Music Program, and the Omaha Symphony.

Darlene is survived by her husband Reuben T. Swanson of Fort Collins; two children: Conrad T. Swanson and wife Cheryl of Wellington; and Joyce Marie Jobson and husband Peter of Fort Collins and four grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Robert W. Carlson.

Services were held previously.
