John Orrin Thoelke, 75, of Fort Collins, passed away May 4.

John was born Oct. 17, 1932 in Gary, S.D. to Clara (Eakins) and John F. Thoelke. He attended South Dakota State University. In 1963, John was united in marriage to Sandra Copeland. John was a 35 year employee for the government working in the Department of Defense and the Department of Agriculture. In 1973, they moved to Fort Collins where he helped establish the Information Resource Management site for the Department of Agriculture. John enjoyed many sports including golf, tennis, basketball and bowling and also liked several outdoors activities as well, especially hiking. He enjoyed woodworking, reading and history and was a car enthusiast.

John is survived by his wife Sandra of Fort Collins; daughters Robyn Thoelke of Alexandria, Va.; Jennifer Thoelke (Michael Schulze) of Loveland; granddaughter Caroline; sisters: Dorothea (George) Koenecke of Clear Lake, S.D.; Betty Schiefelbein of Lincoln, Neb.; and Barbara (Patrick) Mullarkey of Alexandria, Va.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. May 9 at Allnutt Drake Chapel.
