Costs for Birth Certificates Increase

Print Comment
An increase in the costs for obtaining State of Colorado birth certificates will go toward funding the Colorado Responds to Children with Special Needs Program. Governor Ritter signed House Bill 08-1100 on June 3, 2008, which requires the State Registrar to adjust fees to cover the program.

The fee for the first certified copy of a birth certificate will increase from $17 to $17.75. The fee for additional certified copies of the same birth record will remain the same at $10. Death certificates and other services will also retain their current fees.

The Larimer County Department of Health and Environment provides birth certificates of anyone who was born in the State of Colorado and death certificates of people who died in Larimer County.

If you need to apply for a copy of a certificate, they can be picked up Monday through Friday from 8 a.m.-4:15 p.m. at the department offices on 1525 Blue Spruce Dr. in North Fort Collins. They can also be obtained by downloading an application off of www.larimer.org, and then mailing in or faxing (970.498.6715) the completed form.

Faxing an application costs $6 and must be paid by credit card.

All applicants are required to show a photo ID. Those without photo ID will need two other forms of identification. For more information regarding birth and death certificates at the Larimer County Department of Health and Environment, call 498.6700 or visit www.larimer.org/health.
