Anyone who counted their chickens before their eggs hatched might want to dig up that receipt for all those chicks they bought - in anticipation that last night's scheduled second reading of the urban hen ordinance would pass, making it legal for city residents to own up to six hens on private property.
It turns out that the council postponed the reading until September 2, making for another grueling two months before chicken proponents find out if the ordinance will make the cut. At this point, it's unclear why the council chose to prolong the the voting process on the chicken law.
