Rosanna Martinez, 45, was kidnapped at gunpoint by Travis John Kness, 32.

On July 19, at approximately 10 p.m., Travis John Kness, of Loveland, 32, kidnapped Rosanna Martinez, 45, as she was leaving to carpool home after finishing work at The Dollar Tree Store at 2721 S. College Ave., according to a report received by Fort Collins Police.

Martinez was sitting in the passenger seat of a co-worker's car when Kness drove up and fired a bullet from a handgun into the air. He then forced Martinez out of the co-worker's vehicle and into his car.

The co-worker made it safely out of the situation and called 911. It's been reported that Martinez and Kness were involved in a relationship that ended eight months prior to the kidnapping.

Kness and Martinez were last seen leaving the area of Thunderbird and College in Fort Collins driving a late 90s white Jeep Cherokee with a possible Colorado license plate FHX-5828.

According to a press release, Kness is described as a white male, 5'07", and weighing 170 pounds with long brown hair past his shoulders. Kness is a self-described outdoorsman and it is believed that he may have taken Martinez into rural areas outside the city.

Rita Davis, spokeswoman for the Fort Collins Police Department, said in an interview that local police are receiving assistance from surrounding police agencies. She also said that the Major Crimes Investigations Unit is investigating the case and is employing a variety of tools to locate Kness and Martinez.

Anyone who sees the vehicle or its occupants are asked to call 911 immediately. If anyone has non-emergency information about the possible locations of Kness and Martinez, they are asked to contact Detective Wes Haynes at (970) 221.6560.
