Business/environment Series Tackles Carbon Markets

Print Comment
Business and community leaders are invited to the city of Fort Collins’ annual Business Environmental Program Series, a series of morning meetings about how to “green” your business.

The next topic is “An Overview of Carbon Markets,” hosted by the city’s Climate Wise Program.

Susan Innis, program manager for the Colorado Carbon Fund at the Governor’s Energy Office, will offer an overview of carbon offsets; third-party certification; how renewable energy credits differ from offsets; and details on the new Colorado Carbon Fund, established to support new energy efficiency and renewable energy projects that reduce greenhouse gas emissions in Colorado.

Additionally, two founders of Symbiotic Engineering will discuss carbon markets from a regional perspective. Dr. Mark Reiner and Michael Whitaker will discuss the nature of environmental claims that can be asserted when businesses and buildings “green” their operations through the use of RECs; how to use the Climate Registry Protocol and other topics.

The free program lasts from 9 a.m. to noon Tuesday, Oct. 7, at Café Columbine and Bakery, 802 W. Drake Rd., Suite 101, in Fort Collins. Seating is limited, so please RSVP to utilities@fcgov.com or (970) 221-6700.
