Fort Collins residents Luke and Maisie Knowles have joined the 12 million employees who telecommute more than eight hours per week from home.
The Knowles are the creators of www.freeshipping.org, a one-stop destination for consumers to find online retailers that offer free shipping deals.
Luke Knowles said reducing gas expenses and driving time to and from work make telecommuting ideal.
A recent survey in a press release said that businesses that allow their employees to telecommute at least part-time, enjoy increased productivity, lower operating costs and a more expansive pool of prospective talent.
Knowles also acknowledged the benefits telecommuting has for their business.
“In many cases, those who are very good at what they do, work for themselves,” Luke Knowles said in a press release.
He said when you do business with a larger company, you deal directly with junior-level employees, but when you work with someone who telecommutes, you get that person's extensive experience and a more affordable rate to do business because of the limited overhead.
Luke said he agress with the aforementioned survey in that people who telecommute are more productive and have a comfortable work-balance.
“When you are happy with your job, you tend to be more committed to your work,” Knowles said.
