Rollin' For Nathan, an inline skating endurance event, will be on Saturday, April 25 on recreation trails in and around Fort Collins. It is a fundraiser for the Nathan Kiely Fund.
The event was established to help the Kiely family of Fort Collins with medical costs of treating Nathan for Phenylketonuria, PKU, which is a rare disease that he was born with.
PKU is a metabolic disease that impacts the nervous system, and if it is left untreated it can result in mental retardation and other neurological problems.
Director of the event, Chris Howley, along with skaters David Eye and Chad Schneider both of Fort Collins and members of the Fort Collins Speed Weasels Inline Speed Skating Team will skate 100 continuous miles on trails in Fort Collins. The route will end in the parking lot of Ridgeview Classical Schools at the corner of Lemay and Stuart.
Donations are being accepted at www.markination.com/rolling_for_nation for pledges, www.active.com/donate/rollingfornation for pre-paid donations and Kim Miller at Ridgeview Classical Schools, payable to RCS-Nathan Kiiely Fund) 1800 South Lemay Road for in-person contributions.
